Callum Reid · workshop, near Oldmeldrum
Callum Reid served his time with a joinery firm in Aberdeen, then spent eleven years working mainly on kitchens and fit-outs before starting North & Grain in 2016. Ross joined in 2023 and is part-way through his apprenticeship — he's the one you'll see marking out and sweeping up.
Between us we take on around thirty jobs a year. That's a deliberate number. It means Callum can measure every job himself, be on site for the fitting, and come back if something needs adjusted after a winter of central heating.
How we work
One point of contact
You have Callum's number. There's no office, no project manager and no handover between people.
Off-site where it helps
Carcasses, doors and drawers are made in the workshop, which keeps the dust and the noise out of your house.
Honest about fit
If a job is too big for two people, or better suited to a kitchen supplier, we'll say so and point you somewhere sensible.
Paperwork you can read
A written quote with what's included, what isn't, and where the price could move.
We clean up
Dust sheets, extraction on the saws, and floors hoovered before we leave each day.
The practical bits
We're insured for public liability, work to current building standards on structural items such as stairs and balustrades, and can supply written quotations for insurance or factor approval. We're a small business, not an accredited scheme member — if a job needs certification from another trade, we'll arrange it and tell you what it costs.
